I become diesel guy in Europe, where diesel used to be 30% cheaper than regural or 50% cheaper than Premium.
Now, even I admit, that with less driving diesel does not have to make economical sense, but I appreciate 300-330 miles on tank with camper, or 700-800 miles on tank in my sedan.
That said I got hit lately with parts availability for Mercedes diesels.
I have small gasket failed on oil filter assembly. The $7 gasket is not available in America, so I would have to buy $200 assemble. Found it on Chinese net, but waiting for somebody to help me with Mandarin.
Than my 60 mpg newer diesel needs new DPF.
No parts available in whole America and special order is predicted to arrive in ..... 6 months. All that wait for $3000 part (re-manufactured)
I have warranty on my 2017 Ford so no immediate worry, but manufacturers ignorance with parts supply is getting scary.
The only problem with Ford in a year was TPMS sensor. Dealer fixed it twice and it is still showing wrong.
Like the AddBlue tank on Ford. The stuff at truck pump cost less than fuel and you have couple thousands miles before need to refill.
