I've read through most of the posts in this thread and it seems that most of the people that have responded with no issues on their emissions systems are reporting on generally "low mileage" trucks of less than 150k miles. Not sure what the warranty on the emissions systems are supposed to be for these trucks but I thought it was generally good for 100k??? How are these emissions systems doing with 200k, 300k or 400k miles?
For financial reasons there will be many people that are looking at the higher mileage and older trucks because they already have a reputation of durability in the 200k+ mile range. That durability in part comes from simplicity (emissions in particular) and being overbuilt for the power they were designed to produce.
The OP is obviously looking for an upgrade but I think it would be helpful if he specified how long he intends to keep the truck and how many miles that might work out to be.
