Niagara Falls trip--part 2

The next day we headed out for the falls. It was a beautiful morning. (make sure you wear good shoes as there is a LOT of WALKING!)

Here we bought our Discovery Passes which are discounted tickets for Maid of the Mist, Cave of the Winds, Niagara Gorge Discovery Center, Niagara Legends of Adventure Theater, and Aquarium of Niagara.

I believe this is the Bridal Veil Falls and we are heading toward Luna Island. This island was named in the 19th century and called Luna because of the beautiful rainbows you can see on the nights of a full or new moon. The rainbows are caused by the rising mist from the falls.

They give you plastic rain covers and flip flops to wear. They also give you a plastic bag for your shoes.

This is the catwalk and you can climb to the very top to the Hurricane Deck where you will are actually standing under a stream of water :h. This reminds me of a sci-fi movie scene with a lot of aliens :E

Up...

...up...

...at the top! Can you say 'cold' shower? :B

Home in sight

Time for lunch and a rest :Z

After our rest, more walking...

Observation tower, we were just up there. We came down on an elevator and are getting ready to board the Maid of the Mist.

Canadian Maid of the Mist on the other side of river

Hurricane platform catwalk to the right

We are right at the base of the falls. Can you see the Canadian flag at the top right?

Can you feel the cold drops of water splashing down on you? :E

That was AWESOME!

Back at the top of the Observation tower

Ice cream time

Aquarium

Discovery Center, had a lot of interesting history and facts

It's after 3pm now. All that walking has left us too tired to walk the discovery trail. So...we took the trolley back to the parking area :B

:( Goodbye Niagara Falls, until we meet again...:(

An evening stroll after dinner...more planes

All is peaceful...

...and quiet...

Life is wonderful...

  • Thanks for sharing your vacation pictures. We were there a few years ago and had a great time.
  • That was really neat, And felt like I was listeing to a little story as we scrolled down. Thanks a lot folks.
  • Todd & Nina:

Thank you for the wonderful trip report! We have talked about Niagara Falls and Four Mile Creek SP for a couple of years. Your fantastic pictures make us want to leave now!!

  • OK, about the missing pictures. I noticed on my part 1 post that the plane picture had been deleted. I guessed because it was military and I shouldn't have posted it. Then on this post, I thought maybe again, military planes. However, I clicked out and back on twice, and all my pictures are here. So what two pictures are missing?

As for the color of the rain slicks, not sure why two different colors. It's not like you can sneak in as they give you the rain coats right there before going in. It looks really cool though, from far away to see the yellow groups and the blue groups.
  • I noticed that the morning rain gear was yellow, and the afternoon panchos were blue....any significance? Like one is for the walk, and the other for the boat ride?

Thanks for the wonderful pictures.....(and yeah, I'm wondering about the two that were removed too:?)

It took some time to post all those great pictures.....thanks. I had wanted to go there with DW one of these days, but now after hearing about all that walking, we may pass.

    Thanks again:)
  • Hope you saved those plastic raincoats! We kept ours, flattened them out real good. Then folded carefully, pressed air out, and stored them in small spare corner. Believe it or not, those things have really come in handy over the years. Trying to get set up or break down in bad weather, and several times just needed a way to keep dry for a short bit. You can buy them cheaply, but these have good memories However, on the catwalks at Cave of the winds, we got just as wet with them as we would have without. Glad it was a warm day!!
  • Fantastic pictures, looks like you all had a great time. Thanks for sharing.
