- HannibalExplorerI'll keep this in mind if driving up on offset ramps and opening the tailgate ever shows up as even one of my criteria for buying a new pickup truck. Besides, real trucks flex! :B

Unless the trucks are at the exact same angles how fair of a test is it?
The point is the amount of frame flex! Watch the trucks as they sit, the Ram is always aligned very close to sitting on the grounf, the Ford has a very noticeable twist.
GM was the first to stiffen the farm in 2010 or 2012, they ran the same teat with all of the big three, the Ford buckled the TG!! - And I thought people bought the Ram because of the Cummins........

- 45RicochetExplorerSome folks just don't know how to take a joke, and they take the joke like they just took it in the a$$. Come on Ford boys, bring up sales figures or something :B
Hey its just a joke, don't get all butt hurt guy's.
Ready for the GM vs Ford test? That would be 2 for 2 with no oval response :E
Oh wait, saw the F150 frame commercial a couple of weeks ago. It was comical also.
Just saw this youtube on the Cummins site yesterday and thought I'd share. Maybe stay clear of that site cause they are really having some fun with it Blue crew :W
Sorry to pi$$ off the oval crew, just block me and you'll save keyboard time.
OBTW it has been rather slow and I'm not talking GM sales numbers :E - spoon059Explorer II

This has got to be one of the most retarded "tests" i've ever seen. Who in their right mind will be taking a dually off roading through terrain that would put one wheel in the air.
The point is to demonstrate frame flex without having to film it at road speeds.
That said, flex is only part of the total suspension and handling package.
If your truck hits something large enough to flex the frame like that at road speed, I don't care what truck you have, you have serious problems. This is a test to confuse idiots. I guess there are enough of them here that they think this test proves anything of value. Bottom line, if you run a F350 within ratings, the frame will last a LOT longer than the engine and transmission probably will. Same with the Ram, same with GM.
All this test proves is that their are idiots out there that think this "test" measures frame strength or ability on the road somehow... - DirtyOilExplorer

They can't be opened with a wheel off the ground
3 minute video
The left front tire on the RAM is almost on the ground when they make the open the tailgate test. While the Ford, they did not pull it far enough forward to get that left front tire on the ground.
If you carefully watch the video, you can see the Dodge tailgate right side top touch the bed at 29 seconds into the video. At that point (before the left front tire on the Dodge is on the ground) it's tailgate probably would not open either. Anyway that truck has plenty of tailgate gap, while another production truck, or for that matter most trucks will not have that much tailgate to bed gap.
It is a unfair test, and I bet that they worked hours with the dimensions of the ramps to make sure that the RAM worked great, while it's competitor did not. Or maybe let the Ford truck sit there for a week or two, then try it again, until it would not open.
Fred.
Nice catch. I watched and the two are not set up even close. Why did the Ram not pull down when he pulled on it. Yes, because it was resting with weight on three tires. The Ford was teetering on the cross tires.
Yup!! they all do it... as far as little tweaks to get the upper hand... called advertising... Bait... Hook... and Reel em in!!
(Ford had/has a commercial that compares the "big" 3 in uphill trailer pulling competition, they show the Ram losing to the Ford, camera shows the Ram inst. panel, RPMs are up, the Speedo shows a good clip, then look to the side the oil pressure gauge shows "0", what did the Ford boys do to the Ram... to "fix the race"? They all do it! Take their commercials/adds for what they are... they're trying to sell you something, they'll, like any salesman tell ya anything for a sale. Like fishing trips... Dang!!! it was this "LOOONGG!!!" - OilfieldtrashLAExplorer45,
You might want to get a puppy or something to keep yourself occupied. The weather is nice right now, maybe get a kite. - GrooverExplorer III would rather have tailgate problems under very unusual and predictable circumstances that brake problems under ordinary and unpredictable circumstances:
