We do most of our camping in the Adirondacks and absolutely love spending time there. Historically, the wealthy always went to the Adirondacks to escape summer's heat long before AC even existed. We generallly camp at state parks where electric is not available so using the AC is not even an option. Just opening the windows and the roof vents has always worked for us. A Fantastic fan is a really good option; it operates on 12VDC and is quiet, reversible, and thermostatically controlled. But we find that using it is not even necessary.
I'm also curious. Where do you camp in the Adirondacks?
