Nine Dying Diesel Fads

Hmm I had to laugh at some of those, and roll eyes as back in 03 I had a 99 F350 Dually with the 7.3, stock at the time and had some fart can Honda pull up on my right with his ghetto music going, thump thump thump and revving the rice noise. Light turned green and I floored it. That truck knew Exactly what I wanted and proceeded to roll coal into his window. That was the one and only time I ever had the truck do that. I had upgraded to a 5" cab back exhaust, a custom 80HP tune, and an AFE CAI. The truck was not loud by any means, at least from the exhaust pipe, but the engine was sure loud, so I never went through drive through with it. I also would watch EGT before shutting down, but that 5" exhaust made quick work of the EGT's. Under full out down to the metal acceleration it would leave smoke, but not huge black clouds, just the kind you would see as a semi leaves when moving up the gears. Aside from that, it was just like any other truck on the road. I do miss the turbo sound though, can't really hear the ones on my EB, but at least I don't have to worry about EGT and cooldown timers with it since they have recirculating convection cooling after shut off.
