Nissan/Toyota diesel info

So has anyone heard or have any new info on these potential trucks? I am just wondering if they are going to be1/2 or 3/4 ton trucks right now.

  • I guess none of you guys have seen a Nissan NV 2500 pulling a trailer loaded with concrete weights like I have. Occasionly that rig goes up and down Pikes Peak and back to Columbus. Also Freightliner is going use a version of the same engine in some MDT trucks.
  • If I were to ever by a half ton again it would be a Tundra hands down I like the ride the interior space, power ect. But alas I need my next truck to be a bit bigger so I can just get some heavier toys;)

The one ton Tundra was a concept vehicle at the SEMA convention 5 or more years ago. It never made it further than concept because of declining North American Tundra sales. Got that from the sales manager at my local Toyota dealership. But I would have given it a look if I was in the market for a one ton.

I now own 3 ford trucks, 1 a classic ,1 a diesel and 1 a gasser for pulling our 5th wheel. For 20 years I drove Chevy trucks for the nice ride. I bought a Tundra in 2010 and thought it was the best truck I have ever owned. If Toyota ( Made in USA) Tundra had a bigger than truck I would have bought one.

The Titan is a nice truck and the bigger Tundra is a great truck. Diesels would make both really nice trucks.

If it was to happen, it should give better fuel mileage with more torque.
  • How is the Titan not a proven truck? Plenty of them around with gas engines.

Its just Nissan thats going to attempt the diesel, but the Titan is not a proven truck. And its just a 1/2 ton.

So we can all just move-on now, right? Nothing to see or discuss here. :R
