I'm guessing the manufacturers gear up for the most selling trucks first, like 1500's or 150's, and go to HD once they catch up with demand.
They are made in different plants. Either the plant is running or its not, they can't just switch from one truck to another.
Didn't know that - I thought trucks were built in truck plants, and cars in car plants. And, runs of 1500, 2500, 3500 just built in series runs.
That works same way kinda, open one plant and go full bore until you get enough trucks, then open a different plant - I'm sure the plant is concerned with high start up cost all plants at once, especially with trucks that sell less overall, as do the 2500 and 3500 heavy haulers.
I personally feel manufacturers would sell more HD trucks if they built more HD trucks - but, not as many as the 1500 level trucks. Not every one needs a HD haul ability. Lots of folks, especially families need grocery-getters and Home Depot yard and minor repair trips. No need for HD in those.
