GFCI outlets are wired so if the first one trips, the whole circuit dies. An overloaded circuit will not ordinarily trip a GFCI.
Even though you said you replaced all the breakers, I'm fairly certain your problem is in the breaker panel/converter somewhere. The air conditioner is a purely AC powered appliance, so your open is in the AC circuit.
If your lights don't work, that's a DC problem. AC meets DC in the converter. Sounds as if you blew the internal fuse inside the converter.
