I have had the same thing happen to a 6 month old Maxxis E rated when crossing the AZ desert in summer temps. Pulled into a restaurant parking lot in Eloy, AZ and did a walk around. Discovered one tire minus the tread which was wrapped around the axle. Took me an hour of pulling, prying, and rolling around on the ground under the RV to get the tread pulled off the axle and the spare on.
ST tires have a hard time dissipating heat. I now run LT tires
