I did see a 2010 Northernlite 9'6 non basement camper for sale at a dealer asking 24k, (canadian dollars). They have had it on the lot for over 3 months, would offering 20K (canadian) be a reasonable offer? With the American Dollar that brings the price down to like 17k. It looks like its in good shape, but I am unsure about taxes and buying a truck camper in Canada. Distance wise, it is actually a lot closer to me than a few of the Norsthars I have been looking at.
I don't think you would be insulting the dealer with that kind of offer. In fact I might start lower than that 'cause he's going to try to bump you up. It is still a buyers market out there for RVs. It does not seem to be uncommon to advertise them at 1.5 - 2x what they expect to get.
There was a recent thread on buying a camper in Canada you might want to check out. A lot may depend on where and if you have to register it when you get home.
