My guess is the Dealer guys pulled the computer codes and it showed that the Torque Converter was beginning to slip.
I believe that the Dealer's shop did not install the seals correctly and should stand behind their work if in fact the oil is Tranny fluid. Easy to tell!
I too have a Ford f250 gasser 460 but has the e4od tranny, 1994, believe yours has the e5od.
I started having trouble with the Torque Converter and the computer put the transmission in limp mode... Shifting so hard it would nearly break your neck. Computer Codes said TC is slipping.
I took it to a reputable Transmission shop and had a discussion with them. They asked if I tow'ed anything.. Yes was my response, I have a 3500lb camper and pull a 2000lb VW baja. They said they could upgrade the TC to a diesel type and put a performance kit in the transmission to handle the extra load.. Ouch on the price... $4,000. I had them do it and that was 40,000 miles ago.
Hopefully you can get this resolved. That F250 is a great truck.

The 7.3 from 1999 to mid-2003 was the 4R100. Good trans but sensitive to overheating. When the OEM needle moves that is to tell you that your trans is fried. Get a good set (Isspro or others) of gauges and if the trans temp starts creeping toward 150 back off the loud pedal. A 6.0 trans cooler is the best option for the 7.3/4R100 package. The 5R110 which started mid-2003 is a darn good trans (as good as the Allison) but backed the 6.0 which was a problematic engine. ya ya ya I know some were fine and that with enough $$ can be bullet proof but it killed the Ford/IH marriage and screwed Ford's reputation for the ambulance biz. The 6.0 resulted in a class action by the state of Texas over ambulance failures to the point Ford was replacing entire cutaway chassis because they had no clue what to due. Ever since Ford dealers have taken a CYA, stone wall, lie, cheat and steal attitude toward all service work. For a while their quality rivaled that of the top Japanese brands but doing the right thing and building quality is evidently not as profitable for them as raping customers. My '20 Crown Vic has a quarter million miles on it and still runs like new. My '02 F250 like wise. Sadly my '04 F250 was a POS as was the '05 Five Hundred. Couldn't afford the emotional and financial grief, so bought a new Honda CR-V that I can tow 4 down with my old F250!
