I learned long ago never ever get a car repaired then hit the road. The vehicle needs to "adjust" to the repairs.
I had the fluid changed on a suburban in Tucson then drove to Durango and back. On the way home smoke was pouring out of teh back of the truck . I pulled over and the transmission was puking fluid all around the gasket and spraying in on the hot exhaust. I mean to tell you there seemed like there were quarts of tranny fluid on the ground.
I was in the middle of nowhere before cell phones and decided to push on to the nearest service station.
Convinced there wasn't a drop of fluid in the tranny I checked it and it was right at full.
HUH - WHAT how is that possible I saw the fluid pouring out like a water fall.
Turns out the moron that serviced it evidently put in twice as much as it needed.
That was also the last day I ever did preventive maintenance on a tranny. The tranny was perfect before he butchered it.
I now go by if it ain't broke - don't fix it.
