King we did the same thing to a kid back in the late 60's. He got a new VW (no one ever had a new car then) and was bragging about it. We added gas for about two weeks (only .28 back then) and the bragging continued. Once we started taking a gallon out he was so bewildered he took it back to the dealer to complain about going from 38 mpg down to 19. He said the dealer looked at him like he was crazy.
