OK, things are clearer now.
Yeah, that slower speed does indeed make a good difference on fuel mileage.
I previously posted this thread that 17.5 was about as good as mine gets. But that is also at 65 MPH plus speeds.
Coming back home from Omaha one night with mine, I was doing the double nickel all the way (55 MPH to be clear about things.:B )
I drive slower after dark cause I'm not as sharp with night vision as I once was, and good lord the deer are big around here! And lots of them!
So I puttered along at 55 MPH the whole 160 mile trip home. Got home safe, didn't hit any deer, which made me extremely happy.
As a plus, my MPG reading when I pulled in the driveway was at the 20. something range. Don't recall exact now, it's been too long ago.
So it is indeed possible to get the 19.5 (or even better) MPG readings, it all depends on how slow you want to drive, and of course the ever present wind conditions. The night I got 20 something there was no wind at all, a really strange day around these parts.
Mind you, I consider the MPG I got that night to be an aberration, not nearly the norm. Wish it was the norm, but norm appears, as I said, close to the 17.5 mark.
