So why did Ford put in an LT tire for the spare? No biggie, just seems odd to have the mismatch.
It is amazing how the GVWRs are advancing- my truck has a 9900-lb GVWR, and an F-250 of that year was 8800. New F-250s are north of 10,000.
Edit: Forgot to say, congrats on the new truck! The new trucks sure look nice; I keep Ford's build-and-price website busy!
Easy, they wanted to use a cheaper rim (18"). They don't make steelies in 20" rims. Also, the stock size is a 275/55R20 which is a 32" tall tire. So they needed an 18" wheel-tire combo that is 32" tall. All the tires that have similar width and height are LT tires (spare on my F-150 was 275/65R18). Hence why you have an LT spare.
