Just out of curiosity. My liability insurance transfers to the towable with my current insurance when hooked up on a public roadway. But if you were in an accident and the trailer is not legally registered would you still be covered?
I am not debating the ethics just if one is opening up themselves up to additional risk they did not intend.
I asked this Q to a insurance agent friend of mine. He basically said don't count on it. Also, many people think once the trailer is attached to the TV, there covered. His advice, make sure before you find out the hard way.
My trailers are not covered when hooked up to my TV under the policy I have. I had to add a rider policy to cover them. My TT is the only trailer I own that I have a separate ploicy for. My equipment and landscape trailers are on that rider ploicy.
