Off Road Aliner?

What about these trailers makes them "off road", presumably somehow separating them from their more "girly-and-on-pavement-only" counterparts?

I ask because I myself have a 1978 Trillium trailer that I drag all over the place here in the Pacific Northwest, and it has not yet refused to follow my itty bitty 4wd Kia down the most belligerent of bad roads-?

They have basically beefed up the suspensions,, for a lot of Off Road work, not some dirt roads that you get towing your Trillium. The Avan is pretty similar to the basic Aliner in the US


This would not cut it on some of the roads, they would going down or crossing See modified suspension on Avan Adventurer. Still the AVAN adventurer is not a full bore Off Road Trailer, but it can take more punishment than the pavement only variety

My Trillium will go down "dirt roads" that your Australian Beefer-Uppers would quail at the sight of. There are rocks, not to mention streams, gullies, and Dead Animals on the roads I take my Trillium down. And back, I might add.

The Aussies do some serious off-roading, pulling their trailers down the middle of rivers and places I would never think of taking my Toyota FJ Cruiser and high-lift Aliner Expedition. And I grew up in Colorado, cut my teeth on places like Engineer and Black Bear Passes. The Aussies are, quite frankly, nuts. :)

In back-country Washington/PNW, roads aren't any smoother nor are rocks any smaller than in Australia. Though some evidently think they are.

Well, I also consider myself a serious off-roader, but go to Youtube and check out some of the places Aussies go and you'll see what I mean. Sorry I don't have any links - if I can find some I'll post them. I off-road in Utah and Colorado and British Columbia, places where I never see anyone else, and I still think Aussies have everyone else beat.

O.K.- so what about the Aliner here reproduced from the threadstarter makes it all "Aussie off-road superior" to anything in North America? (Including of course my Trillium...;) )



I'd point out that the lack of road clearance alone would make it unsuitable to bring up even along the relatively benign roads above my home here, out in the Olympic National Forest.

Do not get carried away, that Trillium would disintegrate on some "roads" I can think of. No they will go down roads that yout Trillium would not survive . The real military spec trailers are in a different league, designed to accompany military vehicles

Correct, little Trailers like the Trillium would be useless here. It is a blacktop Trailer primarily,Aliners are blacktop trailers that have been modified for SOME a off road work
