The big reason we wanted a crank out awning was because of our age and physical limitations, lifting, climbing (cheaper bag awnings), ladders, durability. Had one of the eazyup and that's the one I used the fabric to make awning for A frame pop up after the wind destroyed it the first time we used it, neighbors had the same experience while camping in Colorado. They may be cheap but, at least for us, not something we look forward to replacing often. But I realize not everyone has the same Murphy type existence we endure. Looked at the Shady Boy for $300 since it only takes two holes, weighs only 15# and is cased also, opens to 10' wide and stores in case 50" long but there again, height on the camper and unfurling, fiberglass rods for tension, etc. made us go with the other style. Even looked at Foxwing but costs and mounting again a no deal. The one we are getting has the option for using the supplied three mounting brackets or standard awning track. Since our mounting location will have screws or bolts coming thru inside the upper cabinets and putty tape does a good job of sealing either method works. And then we have a really old camper so it doesn't hurt as much to drill holes. Been resealing around everything this past summer as previous owners used it for coyote hunting in Colorado in winter and had screwed foam insulation panels to the underside wing areas as well as all around the outside in the truck bed and under the cab over, go figure, so no big deal with a few more as none of them leak now or in the past. A miracle there. It's whatever floats your boat I guess.
