I did that once, or somebody did it for me. I'll never know which. But I have one of those caps with the garden hose fitting on it. I always carefully loosen the little cap and make sure nothing is going to surprise me before I open the big cap. At least that way you know there's a problem so you can take steps to contain it before you pull the cap.
