Marty...I know you are a GM guy, and a 1500 V6 may work for you. Since YOU mentioned the ecoboost above, IMO, an F150 with either boost engine, would work well for you. MPG would be good, not towing, and exceptional power available for towing. With the max tow, the RAWR is a bit over 4K, but adding E tires a good help.
If you can get the Chev running again for 2K or so, may as well do that too.
