Dad,
OM says gcw is 12000 and max 6700 trailer. 5.3 has about 10K lb trailer rating. Im sure this one will pull 10K tho, based on other trucks with similar power specs. not sure I want to tow that much yet.....will need to see how soft etc springs are. As this is first 15 series rig I've owned. Had S-10s toyota/nissan equals, then usually went to a 25+ series if the midgets were to small per say.
Worst case, son has a rancho add on with his 05 and 2" lift he did. Stiffened up rear a lot.

Nice truck Marty, congrats, you deserve some 21st century comfort.
I think you'll be pleased. I had a handful of '14s in a fleet in the Arctic (drove 1 myself) and they performed well, save for one of them having a complete electrical failure. -40 to -50F and snow packed in every orifice may have contributed...
Current company runs mostly all Chebbies and most of them are '15-'18 models. My '16 has been prefect for 100k miles now and still drives as tight as new. Only done brakes and shocks. Save for the trans issue under warranty mentioned earlier, which I still believe was a defect from the start. It always had a bad shudder when taking off from a dead stop with a big load. Other trucks don't do it.
We have 4.3s and 5.3s and I'm not aware of any major repairs to any of them, save for mine.
The 5.3 3.42 setup in mine pulls around 10k no problem, even up the passes) and I've had about 14k behind it, around town here (on a flatbed) and it will still pull up to highway speed before the end of an on ramp.
Your springs are decent for a half ton. I haven't added anything to mine, but I don't work it frequently like I used to with work trucks.
If it was a personal rig, I'd have helpers, bags, Sumos or something on it though.
