Oh "Snap"

Doing my walkaround and I spotted something amiss on my Airlift loadlifter 5000 aibags. No idea when it happened but it looks like a new upper mounts and bolts will be needed. only 80 miles of flat towing to get home. I will just drop the pressure drive easy and trust the springs and stable loads to do their thing.

  • I been there and done that several years ago. I had/have the skills and equipment to straighten out the bracket and replace the bolts. As I recall, mine did not have self-locking nuts, they do now, and I did a major reinforcement on the bracket. I might still sheer the bolts, but I will not damage the bracket, and the nuts will not loosen.

About a year before the major issue, the nuts and bolts loosened. I just blamed it on my not tightening them adequately when I installed them. When I had the major failure, bolts were missing and a couple were loose. I did not see a speed bump, and that was when the bracket was damaged.

  • I bent one on my 91 F350. No sure if the TC or race car hauler did it, but it had a bow to it.
  • WOW Buzz. Made me go outside and check mine right quick.....all is OK here, Thanks!
