Many serious folks in that type of work are running a 15k quality oil filter change and new quality synthetic oil every other oil change and do so for several hundred thousand miles....with a Dodge/Ram or a GM or a Ford diesel truck.
Now years back before fuel injection and turbo diesels on our LDTs we had very poor engine oils compared to what we have today so a 5k oil/filter change was necessary....back then.
Simple, diesels run longer oil change intervals. Always have. Diesels run 3-5 gallons of oil cars run 5-8 qts. There a bit difference in amounts!
So, are we talking gas or diesel here?
