I`ve seen the inside of engines adhered to the 10k mile interval! no thank you! I`ll stick to my 4-5k mile interval on Mobil 1. I know my truck is properly taken care of.
From Mobil One's website:
Mobil 1™ Extended Performance
Designed for longer service intervals, Mobil 1 Extended Performance motor oil is an advanced full synthetic formulation that helps extend engine life, reduce oil breakdown and minimize engine wear – keeping your engine running like new. With proven protection for 15,000 miles between oil changes. Guaranteed.
At the cost of Syn oils why would you waste your money. I have never seen an engine run on Full Syn fail from oil sludge build up. Now if your running a blend or plain dyno oil yes you had better be changing that oil every 3000 miles.
Don
My roundtrip to work is 3 miles. so the oil doesn`t get very hot. I change my oil about twice a year, I average about 7k miles a year. during the winter I put about 2-3k miles on it from OCT-April, I do drive it on the highway occasionally to heat it up. So yes it gets changed at shorter intervals.
The wifes T&C gets it oils changed between 3-4k miles (regular dino oil).
Our old Plymouth minivan with the 3.3L V-6 had 190k on it when I traded it in and the inside was like new with no sludge! Had a Denali at work where the owner followed the OLM, kept getting a low oil message, the gauge would drop and the engine would tick away. dropped the pan and I couldn`t believe how much sludge was in it! 87k miles on it. the inside of Toyota`s aren`t much better. and Mercedes with there 10-12k mile interval. well let me tell you I would never buy a Benz where the owner told me they followed the manual, not that I would by a Benz product anyway!
