Change it just before you go, and again when you get home. 6000 miles in one extended trip will not be a problem.
I hope you are not one of those oil waste'r that thinks you have to change it at 3K.

I wouldn't normally think twice about going 6000 miles on my oil. My concern is it will be nearly 100% towing miles and that concerns me a little. The manual says to do 3000 mile changes when towing.
