When I consider the kind of conditions our farm equipment is operated under and then recognize that the equipment manufacturers recommend oil change intervals of 600 hours - or about every 9000 gallons of fuel (and they don't specifying synthetic) - it makes me realize how overrated changing oil is. I change mine every 25,000 miles on the vehicles that I baby - my Duramax hasn't seen an oil change in years.
How often do you change in the 6.7 Ford diesel?
If you owned a 6.0 with oil fired injectors....
I realize the 6.0 needed more frequent oil changes. On my 6.7 I followed the computer for the first two oil changes - 7500 miles each. So the last oil change was done at 15000 miles. It has only gone about 11000 miles since then. I plan to have an oil analysis done on the oil in a few thousand more miles and if the analysis says the oil is fine I'll likely run the truck for an additional 10,000 miles and then change it.
