- thomasmnileExplorerWas thinking too, GM is going err way on the side of caution with anything that may be a problem, especially after hearing Ken Feinberg say the ignition switch settlement fund will 'be open ended'. They definitely can ill afford another situation like that.......

GM is doing recalls for every little thing. I think it's an over reaction to the ignition switch debacle, almost like before they were trying to hide faults and now the pendulum has swung the other way.
That is a very valid possibility. Thank you. - Robin1953Explorer

I am only "badge loyal" to the best deal/bang for the buck that I can get at the time I am looking for a truck that will do the job. IMHO all three of the major truck makers are the same...they all will do the job required AND they ALL have issues. I had the infamous Ford 6.0L PSD, which by the way never had any issues for me, but it was the best deal/bang for the buck at the time that I bought and I was aware of the issue before I bought. Now I have a Dodge.
Reading these threads confirms to me that many are blindly loyal to 'their' badge...AND it make no difference which badge either...they all are subject to recalls - steepgradeExplorerI have a new Dodge Ram today but I remember back in the 90's.. seemed like I was getting a Dodge Ram recall notice every week.
I was glad then; I would be glad today. - mich800ExplorerI think it is a good and correct thing to correct known manufacturing defects via recall. But I don't think I would go as far as being happy that my vehicle had a recall.
I have had vehicles recalled and had no issues having the work performed but it was an inconvenience and I don't go to the mailbox waiting for a recall notice like a birthday card. - Campfire_TimeExplorer

I agree. With all the recalls, aren't you glad we are driving a Dodge?
I know Dodges have had recalls, but nothing compared to this.
Ignorance is bliss I guess. With what both Toyota and GM got caught doing (or rather not doing), do you seriously believe that Dodge, Ford, and everyone else have been totally upfront with the public on safety issues? They've all been hiding stuff. GM and Toyota got caught first.
GMs recall frenzy is due to a govmt appointed nanny watching over them. As a result of that they have created a separate internal auditing group to ferret out safety issues, even rewarding employees for finding problems.
In the long run this is a good thing. It's going to force the entire industry to do better self policing in this area rather than have more regulation passed. Expect other manufacturers to follow suit in the next 12-18 months. - MARKW8Explorer

I was thinking this one was a little frivolous until I saw that there have been several fires reported because of it.

Well I am glad I drive a "RAM" but they all have problems. It's how they deal with them that counts!
I just received a recall for replacing the "left tie rod ball stud". If this were to break it could cause death.
I am happy they are stepping up and taking care of the problem!
Excuse me. It's just that I was driving trucks BEFORE "Ram" was even thought of. Even though there are no Dodge badges on my "Ram" it will always be a Dodge in my feeble mind.
It is a Dodge product, sold by Dodge dealers, serviced by Dodge technicians, owned by Fiat.
Call it whatever you want.
I don't think so. Dodge has used the Ram image on trucks at least back to the 30s. Although not continuous.
