I verified that the valve was shut, and never did find out what happened. I thought I might have a leaky seal, but this never happened since. Almost if someone played a practical joke, and opened my valve, and closed it again, with the cap holding it all in. Because of this, whenever I dump the tank, I always have a bucket ready whenever I remove the cap. Usually I only see a few drops of grey water drip out.
Drill a hole in the cap so you can preview the possibility of a fecal shower beforehand.
