A lot of that ha to do with the Aisin. While it is a work horse of a transmission, it is a very low shifting transmission and it's torque management calibration doesn't like WOT acceleration. This is why even though the Aisin trucks have more power and torque than the 68RFE truck, there is a much greater gap between the Aisin trucks versus GM and Ford in most races. The 68RFE trucks are generally within a second while the Aisin trucks are more then that behind the competition.

TM even holds back my 03. Puter doesn't allow full output until 3rd gear. Of course it's a percentage thing so adding HP means there's still more power in those lower gears.
