Older 7.3 diesel owners F350 - need advice

We have a beautiful 2000 F350 DRW 7.3 crew cab with 104K on it. We just upgraded a bit to a 2010 Designer. We know the truck did a bit of a squat with our previous jayco but not really an issue. This one is 1000 pounds more. Any suggestions... We have not hooked it up or towed with it as the truck is still in storage due to this extremely long, cold, snowy and lousy winter. The FW was delivered to our home. It does have the Mor-ryde and we don't know if that makes a difference in the squat or not. just looking for some advice or what we might expect. Air bags, helper springs, anything additional??? Thanks Ford folks for answering if you can.
  • You should sell me that truck and get one more suitable. :)
  • wow these guys have heavier rig than me and do fine....I have a 99 PSD and my rig is around 12k.. I would recommend a trans cooler and gauge, best investment I made on my truck. I have not had any sag on mine either. rig is 38 ft
  • Hitch it up. Doubtful that you'll have a problem. If you feel it squats too much some airbags or maybe new springs will take care of it.

Our previous truck was a '02 7.3 PSD, but a SRW. I think you'll be good to go.
  • I have a 99.5 F-350 with 7.3 and pull a Big Country 3500 which is 39 ft and loaded over 14+K. It squats just enough to make a level pull. We've pulled it over the Rockies several times on different roads and never a problem. I've never felt like it was back there. No problems.
  • For your Dana 80 rear end.... All I would do is add some air bags to level out the truck and call it done.

    Nice rig btw!!

    Thanks!

  • I own a 2002 Ford, 7.3, DRW with 204,000 miles..pulling a Designer Legacy, 36', 15,000 lbs....as full timers, we've pulled all over in the Rockies, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Arizona and many more. It pulls just fine and would not hesitate taking off to Alaska with it. Keep up the maint., oil changes, etc and you will do fine.
