Older Ram Heavy Duty pickup trucks are being recalled

About 86,000 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks, as well as 3500, 4500 and 5500 chassis cabs are affected by the recall, from model years 2007 through 2013. In addition, 2011-2014 Dodge Charger Pursuit sedans are also involved in the recall, where the vehicles have alternators that may be subject to premature diode wear, increasing the potential of engine stalls or engine fires. The American automaker is aware of one minor injury related to the issue, but no crashes.

Of the affected units, 74,833 are in the U.S., about 10,100 in Canada and 1,100 in Mexico. About 100 units are outside of North America. To resolve the issue, dealerships will replace the faulty alternators.

The problem was first detected by an FCA investigation of fleet-vehicle performance.
  • I'm so sick of these recalls. Would be one thing if they actually fix something. Last few have noted the recall and in the same sentence say "but tuff schitt, parts ar on backorder, just letting you know your car might kill you and we're thinking about you, merrry Xmas." W t F! Give me a link to order my free replacenemtn part or at least have parts and dealers that aren't dooshes.
Of course if I didn't own a couple a cr appy Dodges, lol, I'm sure I wouldn't have this problem.
I've gotten a stack of "recalls" for the truck and the SRT. Airbags, front end, etc, now alternator. He!! I got one for the fans on the car, right AFTER I replaced them, haha. But at 11 yrs old and well over100k mi, I didn't figure Fram owed me anything.
Besides, $170 and 2 hours in the garage was cheaper and easier than taking it in to the stealer anyway.
  • Mine is a 1999, so it looks like I don't have to worry about it.
    Sometimes, older IS better!

EDIT: Come to think of it, compared to my truck, it is NEWER Dodge Ram pickups that are being recalled!
