One tire wore down on inside tread

Hello

I have a 2011 Passport Ultra light with around 10,000 miles on it. I am 1800 miles from home and I noticed that the back left tire is worn down on the inside shoulder. The rest of the tires look new. What would cause this?

Thanks for the help
Ian
  • Also remove and inspect the tire very close for any shape or tread issues.
Could be a slipped belt or other internal separation starting.
  • Just got off the phone with Dexter, the axle mfg, and they found that the axles are to small for the trailers and they flex going around corners. They are going to upgrade the axle for free. The problem is they have to make them first and it will take a week to get them to me and I have to be back in Ohio on Monday.

    Yep.

Overloading could also cause it (and could cause the bent axle). That's probably the LEAST likely wheel to have a bent axle though because you have good visibility when making a turn to avoid curbs etc. and if you DO catch one the front wheel would be most likely to become damaged.

    Good ideas.

Also the tires tread belts can separate and cause that type of wear pattern.
A tire dealer can check the tire for separation issues and a heavy truck/trailer repair shop can take care of bent axles or worn/broken suspension parts.

A area RV dealer should be able to give you some names of those type places in that area.
  • Have you guys ever had work done far from home? How do I know who to pick to look at this?

    Thanks again
