If the 09 GM DPF system was so great why did they change to DEF? Was it to just join the crowd? Was it to improve MPG's or did GM feel DEF was a better method.
MPG rating in the DPF era were very close to the ratings of gas powered trucks.
I'm not suggesting that DPF trucks are bad. If I owned one I'm sure I'd be very satisfied. Nevertheless if purchasing today, 6 years later I would take advantage of hindsight and by a DEF era truck. The added bonus of the DEF trucks is the drastically improved payload ratings. I see it as a no brainer.
