I ordered a 2015 F150 Lariat with 3.5 eco-boost and 3.73 locking rear axle for maximum payload and towing capacity. On a 2014, that would be 1,790 pounds and 11,300 pounds. Going to a 3.55 locking rear axle with eco-boost engine, the maximum payload is 1,790 pounds but only 9,800 pounds pulling capacity. The specs for 2015 have not been published, but everything I read says those payload/towing numbers will go up. The trouble is, as per Ford's ordering guide, 2015 XLTs and Lariats cannot get the 3.73 locking axle without buying the Heavy Duty Payload package, which I am willing to buy except for this: The luxury groups (501, 502) are not an option for XLTs and Lariats if you buy the HD package. Me, I want maximum payload, maximum towing capacity, and luxury items, but Ford won't let me have it. So, right now my order is on hold

I think that Ford still makes the F-250, with more towing capacity than the F-150. If you are worried about towing and other luxury add on features, move up a class. You never have to much truck.

I am in the same predicament as you, mcsandman. Exact same packages that I want to order. Unfortunately, Ford doesn't see it that way. However I have decided to wait for the 2016 model year. My 2009 F-150 still serves me well. And yes, mpfireman, there is such a thing as "too much truck" for a number of reasons, at least for me and others I see.

Late availability is not the problem. The problem is, a buyer can't get a 3.73 locking rear axle, which will give you maximum towing capacity, except within the Heavy Duty Payload package. And if you get the HD, you can't get the luxury options. It sounds nuts, but I called Ford Marketing in Dearborn, and on this date that's the it is. Call em' yourself if you'd like: 1-800-334-4375

What garages will a f250 not fit in, I park in parking garages all over the twin cities and there are F250's, F350's even some with duals in the parking garages.

The issue may also be height...or the fact that maybe taxes and he wants the EB for his small 5'er.

Yep my 2500 quad cab LWB fits in every parking garage I have pulled into. Fits in my garage at home too, can even walk between the truck and the garage door with it down. Sounds like you need a bigger garage. :W

I doubt it will have more payload than 3/4 ton gassers. Ram 2500 gassers are near 3000lbs in CC SB/LB configurations. Only way an F150 HD can match that is a 2wd reg cab. No one buys that anyway. Adding the diesel option would bring most 3/4 tons down to or under the F150 HD.
