You hit the nail on the head. I hope to retire sooner by not swapping out vehicles as often. I buy new, but they are used over 10 years before even considering replacing one. You cannot take the money with you when you die, but also don't want to continue working until you die either.
Guess I'm the fool, huh? My plans for the the last 20 yrs or so were to retire at 66...That was the plans and even with the stroke, That's still the plans...purchasing this truck has no effect on my plans...Dang, you'd think if someone worked their butt off to make a living, they should be able to spend how they want to....Didn't start this thread to hear what I should have done, or what someone else would have done, Heading toward 66, being married for almost 46 years and raising 3 kids, spent time in the military and served in combat...don't drink. never did drugs, never smoked...surely you don't begrudge me because I can afford to buy a new truck with no effect on my future or retirement...Even with taking care of a daughter and two of my granddaughters for the last 3 years due to her divorcing the fool she married.....THAT didn't hurt us either, and it wan't cheap, ( but it's family). Believe it or not, I DO know what I'm doing even at this stage in my life. Hopefully, I won't die before my 66th birthday on July 22nd....but, never thought I'd have a stroke either.....so there you go...glad I gave you something to post about.
