From what I understand, they are now talking 2022 GM trucks being labeled 2023 since no production has started.

I know exactly what your saying. Been down that road and back. Have owned an 8.1,two 5.9 Cummins and a 06 Duramax along with good size trailers. Very content with 25-26 ft travel trailer these day. So easy with a smaller trailer,Gas stations, back in the sticks and just all around maneuvering.. At least that's my take and hoping to put some miles on to get out of this Az weather in the summers.

It's real. 5th truck I'm buying from the same small dealer and he is giving me the same deal I have always gotten. Very happy

Congrats on the new truck. No need for a HD with a 7000 pound trailer. That 3.0 will be a perfect match.

I'm not positive if still true, diesel and 6.2 gas were ea MSRP about $1000 option. So for a 7-10k trailer, a better option than a 2500 if you keep you payload need under 2000-2200 lbs max. With that said, I've had 3500 in the bed of my truck hauling gravel and a pallet of wall block, handle worst than a 2500. But put a 2nd pallet in a 2500, both are about the same!
I've pulled 8500 with no handling issues either. My max generally speaking for any truck is 2-2.5x RA capacity.

The 6.2 is a little more but I think the little Duramax is the hot tip. I'll be towing between 6,000 and 7,500 lbs. The 2500 didn't make sense for me.

Thank you all. It pays to continuously support the smaller dealers. Although I have to drive a couple of hours to get there,they have always given me my trucks at Invoice plus any other incentives and my earned cash on my GM card.

Do they even offer 3.73 anymore with the gas engines?

5.3, 6.2 and the Duramax all come with 3.23 gears unless you get the NHT package and then the 5.3 and 6.2 get a 3.42 and Duramax gets 3.73s but my 2019 with the 5.3 and 3.23 8 speed has some deep gears and work pretty good but I'm thinking the little diesel 10 speed 3.73 will be fantastic!

I have about 25k miles on a 5.3/10speed. Trans is great, so far. Only complaint, if I had to find one, is either 9th or 10th seems pretty useless, as it only provides about a 150rpm split.
I think we’ve now hit about the practical limit for number of forward speeds. Honestly don’t notice much difference than the GM 8 speed or Dodge 8 speed, but all are a significant improvement over the 6 speeds that they replaced.
Wouldn’t hurt my feelers to have 3.73s behind my gasser though, if they offered it.
