Our family

Our family would like to extend a moment of silence and a prayer to those who are dealing with the after effects of the tornado that hit cherrystone last week. We all camp and cant imagine the fear and pain you are still going through.
  • We where camping last week when the weather hit down there. Luckily we went north into PA for this trip. One of the few times the TV was on to check weather / news the whole week and it had to start the day with this story. We sent our prayers up that morning.
Being in the local region, a few friends called me to check in on us and I did the same with a buddy who takes his family to Cherrystone often.
  • Doug33 yes to your question there were at least two deaths when a tree landed on a tent.. The link to the news clip posted on this site doesn't do it justice... I just happened to catch a CNN clip just after it occurred and it was pretty unbelievable. Living and camping in the southeast always has me on edge when storms blow up I urge everyone to get a weather radio or your phones tuned into the local weather net.

I hope everyone that was involved in this incident fairs well & R.I.P. to those fellow campers who did not.
  • Wow - I've camped there a few times and never heard about this. Were any of the injuries or deaths at the campground?
  • Oh Crap... missed that on the news but just googled images and all I can say is wow!

At work, don't have time to research, did anyone die or hurt seriously?

My thoughts go to all the people affected by this.
  • Apparently I missed something important in the news. Where is Cherrystone - assume it's a campground? A tornado or ?? came through?? Sounds serious. Yes, prayers for those effected.
