Our net Passport 2650

Just returned from a 700 mile trip to pick up our new Passport 2650. Towing with the 2008 LR3 and a ProPride 3P hitch was a breeze. Hit 20+ MPH winds in Iowa with no problem. Looking forward to spring.

I did quite a bit of research and many people recommended against a 26ft trailer with the LR3 but I can happily say it feels completely safe and easy to tow. The LR3 has tons of power and until we hit the wind were getting almost 13MPG. The wind dropped us to 10.5MPG.
  • Nice looking LR3! I have a Disco II and towing is a breeze!

  • My Springdale has spread exiles like that.... Tows much better than my aljo 2680 did.
  • I would guess that the spacing between the trailer axles lends well to towing stability as well. I'm no RV guru, but I don't think I've ever noticed axles that far apart before. Clever..

Nice looking camper. Smart decision to go with that upscale hitch due to your short wheelbase.

BTW, 20 mph winds are laughable. Those are regular wind speeds around here especially coming off the lake. I have pulled mine through 40 mph and 50 mph winds many times. It's stable but not much fun as the winds push the entire rig as "ONE" all over. Of course LT truck tires and a stiffer suspension would help.

    Enjoy your new camper.
  • Kevin - I ran across your post while searching for others that have towed with the LR3 (I have a 2007). Wow, have I got some questions for you!!! I'm going to be towing a trailer that's a similar size. First question: the LR3 manual says "no weight distribution hitch allowed". There are quite a few others out there including yourself that are towing fine with one without any issues. Now that you've had some time with your trailer, has our LR3 had any negative issues?
  • I think the key to your success revolves around your research and that propride hitch you decided to go with. That camper is more like 29 feet long so great choice in upgrading the hitch.
