Outdoor Kitchens

My wife and I are shopping for a new travel trailer. One feature that we are both attracted to is having a trailer with an outdoor kitchen (Lance 2295, Outback Terrain 220TRB, etc). For those of you that have outdoor kitchens, is this a worthwhile feature? If you were to purchase another trailer, would this be a "must have" item? Our current trailer (Coleman Sun Valley tent trailer) has an outside 2 burner cook top that we use occasionally. An outdoor kitchen doesn't appear to be offered on most new trailers, so I question if this is a good thing to have.

  • We have an outdoor kitchen on our Premier 32'. It has a large fridge, 22' tv, sink and two burner stove. We absolutely love it. We probably cook with it 99% of the time. I would not buy another tt without one.
  • Really like the outside kitchen in our Sundance. I thought it might be a bit 'frivolous' when we bought it but having a fridge, sink, & counter is a definite convenience. We mostly cook outside anyway.

Thinking we may switch the 110v fridge for a cooler when we launch on a long trip involving more non-hookup stops.
  • I like mine but take fridge out when travelling and not staying at electric sites that often . it frees up counter space. When staying for a while at elec sites ,just remember to defrost the freezer before you travel as the thawed water spills all over the inside of the frige.
  • I looked at a used TT at PPL the other day that had an outdoor kitchen with what appeared to be a 120 volt frig. So it brings up the whole inverter, number of batteries issue and dry camping. My son is considering getting a different TT.
  • We just purchased our new 25' TT in November and will not take delivery until early May but I am thrilled to have an outdoor kitchen. We can keep condiments out there, wash out dirty pots and not bring them inside, get beverages without constantly going into the camper etc. Also nice to have the extra burners as sometimes I really need an extra burner for a big pot without crowding the other burners.

We had a pop-up previously and had an outdoor stovetop (2 burners) and it was very helpful as they were higher output and boiled water for pasta etc. much faster than inside.

    Hope this helps.
  • I don't have one at this time but I'm thinking hard about it for my next camper. The outdoor fridge would be a big plus over the drinks cooler we now use. I also like to cook outside over the fire and having a sink, small pantry outside would probably save a bunch of trips into the camper. The one thing that concerns me it the height of it. If your site is not level it might not be of much use.
