If you don't want or need to be in camps that are kid oriented, then WHY were you in a camp that is kid oriented? Why not go elsewhere?
As for the set-ups, most people who are camping do a lot of set-up. It's about utilizing the outdoor campsite rather than just their RV - not about showing off their stuff. Some people do more, some do less. I know full-timers who set up a bunch of stuff for a 3-day stop. I know weekend campers who don't set up anything but a chair.
THERE ARE NO RV PARKS OPEN at that time of year. IE: we had no choice our daughter lives in Frederick and there just aren't any place for our size rig within miles! Our best hope is she is maybe moving back to Michigan in July.
There are a few other options in the Frederick area. However since you are not local to this area you may not be aware of them.
As far as kids go, You were at a Jellystone. You should have expected kids and young families. Sort of like going to the beach and complaining about the sand.
What you described as people showing off their stuff was simply young families enjoying themselves and having fun.
While you may be a really congenial person your post really dates you and makes you appear to be a "Get off of my lawn old guy":@.
I don't think you intended to come off that way, nevertheless your post was a bit critical of the younger generation.
For the record I am a weekend warrior with a lot of junk that I don't set up as much or as often as I used to.
However I still enjoy those with the enthusiasm and energy to get it all out and put it all away during a weekend outing.
