Thanks for the heads up there... Our Outfitter is from 2011 and we have so far spent around 150 nights in it - with roughly the same number of roof operations. I dread the day when the lift motor quits...
A few questions to those who have already experienced a failure:
- how long did the motors last?
- what is it that usually fails first? The motor itself or the gearing? Our roof has no additional loads on top, we are running (sort of) light.
- what was the "operator error", so I could pay special attention to avoid doing the same thing?
- is the motor identical to the ones that are used on the electric jacks? In that case at least I would always have 4 spares with me.
Repair looks and sounds to be straightforward with the right tools, at the right place. Stranded on a remote camping lot not so much...
