Outside Cable Connection

Got out there this evening and pulled the plate with all the connections. Disconnected the one that had been painted red and ran it straight to my sat receiver. It worked great! This forum is awesome! Now that I know which is the main line, I can now make it all nice and neat. Thanks again everyone!:B

If inside your trailer the plate with the cable to the TV and power button has two confections with a short cable connecting the two, un-hook the two connection and choose the bottom in ( on mine anyway) connection and run that one to your sat box then to the TV and it will work.

My duh moment for the this post. Completely overlooked the Sat Rewire link. Geeze. Anyway, I plan on trying that after work today and looks to be fairly straight forward. Thanks all!

The cable for the 2nd tv usually comes from the back of the amplifier faceplate. Look at the Sat rewire link above and you will see where it more than likely splits and how to overcome the problem. If nothing else, remove the cable "in" connection from that plate and hook it directly to your sat. and see if it works before you do the rewire.

Every RV I've owned (all used) the PO had run a separate line to hook up the sat. As others have said, sat and cable splitters do not mesh and if you have two pre-wired TV connections there is a splitter.

I have a 2005 Jayco Jayfeather and I can tell you mine would not work. They either used the wrong type of coax or there is a hidden splitter. I tried the line coming directly from the outside and disconnected it from the amplified jack plate and went straight to my Satellite receiver and it would not work. I ended up installing a new jack for my Sat. on the entry side close to the refrigerator opening. Since my TV was near the fridge it made it easy to run the wire up through the side of the refrigerator cabinet.

There's an easy way to overcome this. Like "Bob123" said, satellite receives don't like splitters. Pull the antenna amplifier plate off and find the direct line in from the outside and disconnect it. Take one of those wall plates that has two coax connectors on it. Hook the outside line to one side on the back and label that line "Sat" and the other line on the back goes back to the antenna amplifier. Label it "Ant." When you're using the satellite, hook the input for the receiver directly to the line you just marked "Sat" and the output of the receiver to "Ant." Your satellite dish will be hooked up to the outside connection. When you're using the regular antenna or hooked up to cable TV, just put a short coax jumper from "Sat" to "Ant." The ONLY time you should need the amp on is for the antenna. I mounted this plate right above the antenna amp plate.
