Our previous camper had a cabinet with doors. I much prefer the open shelf. We can get to everything without having to climb on the bed.

Interesting viewpoint - we much prefer a cabinet with doors that keeps the contents out of view and I don't ever recall climbing on the bed to retrieve anything we keep up there. I also don't ever recall anything shifting about, clothing just sits there stacked until until we need something, but with an open shelf I can see how items might get tossed about. ;)

The boxes fit across the shelf with less than 1/2” between each one. Nothing has ever been tossed about. On our previous camper, that center section with no door was a pain. Fortunately, we don’t need to keep any clothing up there as there is adequate built in storage under the bed and is very easy to get to.
Just shows you how different we all are ;) ... that under bed storage area is
for us the most inconvenient storage space in the entire trailer and therefore the least used even though I even added cabinet doors to the end of the bed platform so I wouldn't have to struggle with lifting the bed platform & mattress. The most I keep in there these days are a couple of empty grey water containers and a laundry basket.
