I've never heard of this being a common Chevy problem before.
What caused the leak? Did the lines rust through? If so, did they rust from the outside?
Is the truck driven in winter in areas where a lot of salt and deicer get spewed all over the road?

The line(s) rusted through along the frame under the drivers side. If you google chevy brake line rust it will open your eyes. They did not use stainless steel lines. My truck was never driven on salted winter roads but has made quite a few trips to the coast. I was always diligent about underbody washing after a coastal trip.
OE East, I'm hoping my garage will be done with brake repair by tomorrow, if so I'll only miss one day. If I go, I'll post plenty of pics.
