On my old 97 F150 I added these to it back in 2001 and they made a huge difference in hauling heavy stuff in the bed and towing my TT...

They were Hellwig overload springs and didn't raise the ride height like an 'add a leaf' will, but really helped with the 'sag' when loading heavy in the bed..
When dropping my #650 tongue weight trailer, it would only drop a couple of inches, so when I set the WD hitch, it didn't have to also compensate for another 2 inches of drop the truck would have had without the overloads...
Just my experience with them... LOVED THEM for the 13 years I owned the truck... :)
