Overweight???

Loaded normally, we're right at weight. Towing...we're a bit over on the gross. Still get 17mpg though. Good trailer brakes and a reese WDH is mandatory. 80% of the time, I never know it'd back there. Until the hill climb......

Never been down to 2nd....yet.

I am a bit plump but my rig is not even close to overweight.
Running a 1999 F550 with 19K GVWR. Truck is 8900 LBS.
96 Caribou plate says 3600 lbs. Ya right. losded 5K lbs is closer. My self and a couple of dogs not even close to overweight. Hauling my 6x14 trailer with Rhino no problem.
I bought the F550 so I could stop calculating weights.
My current rig would have been overweight with my F350.

Nope. Tires on a srw are usually the weak link. That is why tires are usually the first real upgrade. However, airbags are common which level but sometimes make the combo more unstable as the overloads become disengaged.

My rear GAWR is 6010 and my single rear tires are 3195ea=6390
I'm wandering if I'm good to 6390 as my rearend on the scale is 5248 with 13/16 of fuel and about 2/3 fuel of fresh water, no tongue load, no clothes, gear ect basically camper empty.
Just seems like the weak link would be suspension or tires, but I'm far from being an expert.

Ha, actually, I went to a scale this weekend ... to the dump. ;) My truck with me, near full tank, tailgate, bed cover, tiedown mounts was 9600. I believe my DW is less than the tailgate and bed cover. The step tailgate is pretty heavy! In any case, 9600 is a pretty close number for unloaded. That leaves 4900 for camper based on GVWR of 14,500. The camper tag is 3571 if I remember right.

I think I'm under, but I'll know more when I weigh with normal water and loaded with camper.

My truck is not overweight. I have at most 7000 lbs. on the rear tires that are rated for 7500 lbs in total for the pair. That is all that matters.

Truck axles and wheel bearings on 3/4 and 1-ton trucks are rated for 8900 lbs. or more. Current Ram and GM are rated at 10,900 lbs. and current Ford trucks have rear axles and wheel bearings rated for 9750 lbs. The load limitations of a truck as it leaves the factory and the payload rating stick has been attached, are the rims and tires and leaf springs, all of which are easily upgraded.

The truck can just as easily be downgraded by lifting or lowering it or changing out the tires and rims.
