- powderman426ExplorerIf touching the unit gives you a shock, that usually means an open ground. Check your connections starting at the plug your using with a test device available at any home hardware store.
- beemerphile1ExplorerNow you are changing the subject. Your new question would be best posted in the tech section.
What is the TT plugged into EXACTLY? Are you using an extension cord? What is the brand and model of converter? Give as much information as possible.
Quality and detailed questions get quality answers. There is nothing you can run into that someone on here hasn't dealt with before. - dadmomhExplorerMost manuals that come with RVs are very generic - no where close to what you've just bought. Sorry you're having this glitch with the electrical. Since electrical issues can = fire hazard, I'd be inclined to find an electrician to lend a hand....or at least come and evaluate, then maybe head you in the right direction.
Since it's been outside for so long, you also need to give the roof a good going-over. You likely need to do some caulking or other repairs up there.
Good luck. - alohalollyExplorerThank you everyone for your help. We are new RVers and just bought our first travel trailer, 2005 Frontier Explorer, no slide which had been sitting on a open storage lot for several years. Inside in very good shape so we took a chance, brought it home and found that the electrical system not working. Able to get outlets to work but still no lights, ac, frig etc. Also received a shock when touching parts of the outside of trailer when it's plugged in. Husband has been searching for a short but hasn't found it yet. He's been following the wires with a meter. Any suggestions? Mahalo
- beemerphile1ExplorerIf there was a manual and you can find one it will probably be of little use. Use your favorite search engine to find manuals for your appliances by searching by brand and model.
- powderman426ExplorerAll the manuals I have ever seen aren't worth the paper they are printed on (not even toilet tissue as its too slippery). Like stated above, get info on each appliance by nature and model. AS For wiring, get a good meter and learn how to use it. Jmo
- _tiredTeacherExplorer IIAloha! Search online for the manuals for each appliance separately. Most "owner's manuals" that come with new TTs are folders with all the component manuals inside. To my knowledge no one supplies wiring and plumbing schematics of their trailers to the customer/owner (if that's what you want).
Here's a for instance: A LINK to the Lippert site with slide out info.
Teach - loulou57ExplorerThe company is no longer in business so I would imagine it will not be easy.
However...there are a lot of knowledgeable people here who can find almost anything.
