Pack rat smashed under slide out room

We have a 5-year-old Nash with a slide out sofa/dining area. This year, a pack rat managed to get into the unit and made a nest under the slide out room while it was closed. We opened the unit to camp and unknowingly crushed the pest. Our trailer now is polluted with maggots (they roll out from under the slide plates) and the vile smell of the decaying animal. Because the remains are under the slide out, we cannot reach the area to clean them out. We've been attempting to swab out the flooring under the slide plates, but are accomplishing much. Has this happened to anyone else?

If nothing else, time will desiccate the remains and the problem will disappear.

When I was a child, a vermin of undetermined type died in one of our bedroom walls. It wasn't pleasant for a while, but then the smell went away, never to return.
  • Isn't there like a gasket that you can push a vacuum nozzle through under the slides when they're partially extended,
  • I just wonder if insurance would cover removing the slide and cleaning it properly.... anyone?
