- travelnutzExplorer III've masked off and used Rustoleum gloss white spray on our previous aluminum sided Lance TC's and it matches the white Lance color perfectly. The Lance white is more of a satin gloss and especially due to aging so you really have to repaint and entire section up to the side stripes or down to the side stripes because if you only repaint small areas, it will look blotchy and will not match in gloss level. Looks terrible but I may be more fussy and a perfectionist more so than most.
Our '97 Lance Squire 4000 white got repainted by me before selling it to a local friend in 2009 and we see it a couple times a week and the repainted white still looks like new at 7 years old. I also repainted the dark gray wide metallic side, front, and rear stripe by masking it off using low stick clean release masking tape because the regular masking tape pulled the narrow black pin stripe off in the one inch long test area I did before finally taping off. I used GM #344 Cadillac Gunmetal gray metallic spray and it looks super and just like when we got the ordered new 97 model Lance in the summer of 1996.
I found it very important to lightly fog spray the area first and then spray the paint on to cover as it prevents sagging and runs. Can't be any wind blowing or do it inside. I did it outside and sprayed before the sun got up high so it didn't affect it either. Wasn't as big of a job that I thought it would be. Hardest and longest task was masking it accurately and right.
That's the experience I've had with repainting an aluminum sided Lance and would sure do it again.
